The West Jackson Fire Department partnered with our team to strengthen community trust and engagement through clearer messaging, a modern digital presence, and a communications system staff could sustain.
The challenge
WJFD needed to
Make key information easier to find online (especially on mobile)
Improve consistency across channels
Increase participation in programs (tours, safety education)
Create a repeatable content engine—not ad hoc posting
My role
Lead consultant and strategist for discovery, communications planning, website direction, implementation support and staff enablement.
What we delivered
Designed a communications/engagement strategy and prioritized roadmap
Launched a modern, streamlined website (March 2024) with a directory, contact forms, and service bookings
Implemented a social media scheduling tool to coordinate content across the team
Built a blog and email marketing program for residents to subscribe for important updates
Added online booking for tours and community safety programs
Added an online donation option
Created a new social media content strategy (topics, cadence, formats, and channel-specific guidance)
Impact
Website traffic up 49% from 2024 to 2025
Social engagement up 351% year-over-year after the strategy refresh
$1,600+ raised through the online donation option for Lena’s Grant, supporting local safety organizations
